Red Mango Opens on North Decatur Road

Healthy yogurt retailer, Red Mango is opening its first store in Decatur, near Emory University. Red Mango yogurt is 100 percent all-natural, nonfat and contains no preservatives or artificial ingredients.

The new store invites customers to swirl it and top it themselves at its grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 29. The store, located at 2052 North Decatur Rd. in the North Decatur Center, will treat customers to free frozen yogurt from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m and a free T-shirt for the first 100 fans.

The new store offers 12 delicious all-natural flavors, including Red Mango’s core flavors – Original, Pomegranate by POM Wonderful® Madagascar Vanilla – all at around 100 calories per serving. Customers can garnish their yogurt with healthy, natural toppings including fresh fruit, nuts and granola; and fun toppings like Fruity Pebbles® and Cap’n Crunch®.

Great Harvest Bread Company Closes on Briarcliff

According to whatnowatlanta.com, after five years in business, cold air and old yeast is all that’s left of Great Harvest Bread Company near Emory University.

Located at 2173 Briarcliff Rd NE, the bakery announced their closure to email subscribers yesterday, Jan. 17.

“We’ve enjoyed being your neighborhood bakery for the last five years. Unfortunately, it’s a tough business, and we have decided to close. If you have a gift card, we apologize for the inconvenience but they can be redeemed at any of the other Great Harvest bakeries.”

The shuttered location is just north of Emory University, at the corner of Briarcliff Road and Lavista Road in the Briar-Vista Shopping Center.

Unused gift cards are redeemable at other Great Harvest bakeries.

Great Harvest Bread Co. is a national franchise with locations in every state.

Local Three is located on Northside Drive within a very nice set of office buildings and if not for the breadcrumb-like signs it’s doubtful we would have ever found this gem of a restaurant regardless of being at the address. Fortunately, someone’s utter genius realized that without additional signage we could not have found our way but their signs lead us right to the door and to true culinary bliss.

Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand Opens in the East Atlanta Villiage

Delia Champion and Molly Gunn, founder and owner, respectively, of the Flying Biscuit purchased the Supreme Fish Delight Space at 489 Moreland Avenue, which ceased business on the eve of December 7th.

This brick and mortar location will support a fleet of street trucks which will serve chicken sausage throughout Metro Atlanta and beyond.

“Considering the current laws and regulations in Atlanta, it is easier to start with a brick and mortar location,” said Gunn.

“Then we will roll out a street vendor element with the launch of our first truck.”

Champion and Gunn will cue their fleet of vans and street trucks out of the East Atlanta location.

Champion has been developing her chicken sausage for more than 15 years and has wanted to create a concept around that product.

SMYRNA, GA -- In the recently released 2010 Zagat Fast Food Survey, which included 136 national restaurant chains, Atlanta Bread received top five distinctions in two key categories.

The survey's more than 6,500 participants voted Atlanta Bread among the top five large chains (places with less than 5,000 locations) in the Healthy Options and Facilities categories. This is the second straight year that Atlanta Bread placed among the top five chains in these two categories.
