ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Police Department Homicide Unit will be featured on the new season of A&E documentary series "The First 48."

The television program follows detectives as they search for clues and interview witnesses in the first two days of a murder investigation. It has profiled police departments across the country, including DeKalb County.

"The First 48" crews filmed Atlanta's Homicide Unit members as they investigated and solved homicides throughout the city.

"We are proud to showcase the excellent work of our Homicide Unit," Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said in a release. "Our homicide clearance rate is consistently above the national average, and viewers will see firsthand how dedicated our investigators are to solving some of the most heinous crimes in our city."

Season 14 of "The First 48" premieres Thursday, Jan. 22 at 9 p.m.
