Freedom Sisters to honor Shirley Sherrod at Carter Center

Atlanta’s “Freedom Sisters” will convene at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum for a special panel discussion and tour Thursday, September 23rd at 4 pm in the Carter Museum Theater.

Stogner Confirmed as Chief Operating Officer

Tuesday, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners voted to confirm Richard Stogner as Executive Assistant and Chief Operating Officer.  Stogner was nominated by Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis.

Mr. Stogner’s appointment is for an initial term of one-year. He has asked not to receive compensation for his services during his term in office.

Vote DeKalb, Encourages Early Voting

In an effort to increase voter turnout in DeKalb County, county officials are launching an early voting campaign—Vote DeKalb—to encourage voters to cast ballots prior to the Nov. 2 General Election. 

Acting DeKalb County DA Sworn In, Today

Decatur, GA –Javoyne Hicks White has been sworn in as the acting DeKalb County, Georgia district attorney. She assumed the job on Sept. 3, 2010.  

“I look forward to serving as acting district attorney,” said Hicks White. “DeKalb County citizens can rest assured that our office’s talented and committed lawyers and support personnel will continue to provide them with the same level of service they have received during the past five and one-half years.”

Hicks White was one of two existing chief assistant district attorneys who reported to District Attorney Gwen Keyes Fleming. She recently accepted a position as a regional district administrator for the federal Environmental Protection Agency.
