DECATUR, Ga. -- Commissioner Stan Watson will be hosting his 4th Annual DeKalb County Neighborhood Summit on November 3. 

The  summit will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott Decatur and if free to all who want to attend. The summit will be held between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. 

At the summit, the commissioner will be speaking about Legislative updates, how to work with your elected officials, annexations and cityhood. 

According to the Office of Stan Watson: 

ATLANTA -- Joseph Crespino, a historian at Emory University and author of Strom Thurmond's America, will give a lecture at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Crespino will discuss Thurmond's rise to power and how his actions in the 1950s and 1960s led to the current rise of the Southern Republican movement.

According to a release from A Capella Books, which will sponsor Crespino's appearance:

ATLANTA -- Georgia's military and overseas citizens will be able to participate in the state's upcoming presidential primary by e-vote starting later this month.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp said those voters can access their absentee ballots electronically starting Jan. 21 for the Mar. 6 election.

Kemp and Georgia National Guard Adjutant General Jim Butterworth will conduct a joint outreach and education effort to promote voting opportunities for military personnel and their families.
