Bobbi Kristina Brown turns 22 still 'fighting,' family says

Bobbi Kristina Brown turned 22 Wednesday, still unconscious in her Atlanta hospital room, as her late mother Whitney Houston's family posted a rare update.

"Today is Bobbi Kristina's 22nd birthday and we ask you to continue to keep her in your prayers as she is still fighting the battle of her life," read the statement posted on Whitney Houston's website.

It included a picture of Bobbi Kristina and her mother in happier times. It also was on the Whitney Houston Facebook page.

The statement was signed by Bobbi Kristina's aunt, Patricia Houston, who's married to Whitney's brother and is the executor of Houston's estimated $20 million estate left in trust for Bobbi Kristina, her only child.

DECATUR, Ga. – Supporters held a vigil for the only woman on Georgia's death row the night before her scheduled execution.

Kelly Gissendaner was sentenced to death for masterminding a plot to have her then-boyfriend kill her husband, Doug Gissendaner, in February 1997.

A group of clergy, family, friends and supporters gathered Sunday at the William Cannon Chapel at Emory University to pray for Gissendaner. Gissendaner's three adult children sat in the front row.

Bobbi Kristina suffers seizures

Bobbi Kristina suffers seizures

Bobbi Kristina Brown's perilous medical condition changed briefly but not for the better: She suffered seizures when doctors attempted to wean her off drugs that had put her in a medically induced coma.

She's still in a coma in an Atlanta hospital, still fighting for her life following the seizures, a source close to the situation but unauthorized to speak publicly told USA TODAY.

Last week, doctors removed her breathing tube, a standard procedure performed after time to prevent infections, protect the vocal cords and keep the lungs clear of fluid.

Jordan S. Josephson, an ENT specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital, told USA TODAY the tracheostomy procedure is typically done when people are expected to be on a ventilator for more than a couple of days.

There have been no official comments from her family or their lawyers.

Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend sounds off on Twitter

Bobbi Kristina Brown's boyfriend, Nick Gordon, has taken to Twitter to lash out at her family.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, has been in a medically induced coma since being found unresponsive in a tub on Jan. 31.

Over the weekend, Gordon's attorney said in a series of statements that Gordon had been prohibited from visiting Bobbi Kristina Brown in the hospital -- a claim Bobby Brown's attorney denied.

Lawyer: Bobbi Kristina Brown's boyfriend prohibited from hospital visits

Bobby Brown's attorney once again denied Nick Gordon's assertion that he was prevented from visiting Bobbi Kristina Brown in the hospital.

Bobbi Kristina Brown is the 21-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. She has been in a medically-induced coma since being found unresponsive face-down in a tub on Jan. 31. She is being treated at Emory University Hospital.

On Sunday, Gordon's attorney, Randall Kessler, released a statement saying:

Bobby Brown has consistently prohibited Nick, who Bobbi Kristina would want by her side, from being there. Per his own words, Mr. Brown has only "offered an opportunity to potentially meet with Bobbi Kristina" if Nick were to meet certain conditions, conditions that we, his attorneys, have advised him not to meet, particularly in light of Mr. Brown's inability to guarantee access.
