CDC | PeachCare for Kids gets $5 million boost | News

ATLANTA -- Georgia is getting nearly $5 million from the federal government to make it easier for children to enroll in PeachCare for Kids.

Georgia is one of 23 states sharing $296 million in performance bonuses from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for providing more access to the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

It's the first time the state has received a performance bonus since the insurance program was reauthorized in 2009.

Recently released data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that more than one million more children across the country have enrolled in CHIP since re-authorization.
