Grady Health Foundation’s Rock-N-Ride is a party from start to finish

Warm weather, music and motorcycles and a great cause all in one spot could only mean one thing: Grady Health Foundation’s “Rock‐N‐Ride” presented by AirTran Airways is right around the corner. On Saturday, June 25 motorcyclists will gather at Killer Creek Harley-Davidson in Roswell to kick off the event that benefits Grady Health Foundation and Gold Shield Atlanta.

Ride registration begins at $40 and includes a commemorative Rock‐N‐Ride T-shirt, a ride pin and complimentary bike parking downtown at the festival. The event starts at 11:00am with entertainment by RATL at Killer Creek Harley‐Davidson in Roswell.

ATLANTA -- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

This weekend, at The Red Stripe Midsummer Music & Food Festival, join the people of 790 The Zone for free music, food and fun at Chandler Park in Atlanta. The festival will feature bands like Robert Randolph and the Family Band, JJ Grey and Mofro, Dr. Dog and the Dirty Guv’nahs. The event will be held at Candler Park, which is located at McClendon Avenue and Callan Circle.

The annual concert thrown by Atlanta hip-hop station, Hot 107.9, will be held on Saturday at Philips Arena. The concert, called Birthday Bash, will be headlined by Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, Lloyd, Rocko, Travis Porter, Future and Ace Hood. Tickets are currently on sale at your local Ticketmaster.

Wendy’s is giving us a good reason to buy a Frosty this weekend!  It’s the fifth annual Father's Day Frosty Weekend – when participating Wendy’s restaurants will donate 50 cents for every Frosty product sold June 18th – 19th to support Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The efforts are aiming to raise 1.7 million dollars!

LOCAL PROFILE: Georgia's Country Music Scene

ATLANTA – According to the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, “country music is a perennial Southern favorite in Atlanta and it won’t disappoint”. The music, which has its roots in the south, is known as a blend of, both, traditional and popular music. The country music genre gained widespread popularity around the mid-1900’s as music known as “hillbilly” or old-time music began to decline. Hillbilly music was a genre of music native to the people of the Ozarks. The music was usually played on acoustic instrument like a guitar or a banjo.

Over the years, old-time music changed however most of the lyrical content and instrumentation stayed the same. As it evolved, the arrangement of instruments grew to include the electronic keyboard, drums, the bass, fiddle and the harmonica.

ATLANTA -- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

On Saturday morning, the Old Forth Ward is hosting a party, called Atlanta Streets Alive! The parallel Atlanta Streets Alive! The party will be off-limit to cars from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The best way to get around to Edgewood, Boulevard and Auburn Avenue will be walking, skating or biking. The Streets Alive project will feature healthy activities like pickup soccer and food trucks from the Sweet Auburn Market.

‘Tis the season for football camps and two Atlanta Falcons are starting the season off right. Chauncey David and Jonathan Babineaux are co-hosting a one-day free clinic at Grady High School for students aged seventh through twelfth grade. Registration for the camp starts at 9:00 a.m. and the camp starts at 10.

Last chance to see 'Monsters' at Emory

ATLANTA -- "Monsters, Demons, and Winged-Beasts: Composite Creatures of the Ancient World" will end its run on Sunday, June 19 at Emory University's Michael C. Carlos Museum (571 South Kilgo Circle NE).

Museum-goers, ancient art enthusiasts, scholars, students and families alike can still enjoy the rich world of myth, legend and high adventure seen through art and artifacts depicting imagined creatures from ancient times.

From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 10, visitors can also take advantage of free admission.

With over 150 objects, the exhibit traces the development and dissemination of "monstrous" imagery through works in gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stone, terracotta and papyrus.

The oldest object dates from 4000 BCE, while the most recent is approximately 1,400 years old.
