ATLANTA -- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Check out the weekly Food Truck event at Atlantic Station on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. During this week, five or more local food truck vendors gather on 17th Street in Atlanta and they offer a variety of dining selections.

Gear up your taste buds for the beginning of Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week, which starts this weekend. This event showcases participating Downtown Atlanta restaurants with special dining promotions of three-course dinners for $25 and $35 per person, plus tip and tax.

The NBA and Sprite are holding a special dunk contest at the Atlanta Jazz Festival at Piedmont Park on Saturday, May 28. The event will be judged by Darryl Dawkins and Hall-of-Famer Dominique Wilkins. The tour is in search for the best amateur dunker and dunkers will also including Tomhawks, Windmills, Ally Oops and others.

This weekend, Piedmont Park will be hosting the 2011 Atlanta Jazz Festival. This festival is the only free jazz festival in the country. Attendees can come and peruse the actual festival and enjoy performers from Saturday until Monday.

The Atlanta Braves will be hosting the Cincinnati Reds on Friday and Saturday during a two game series. Both are night games. The Braves will also host a Memorial Day game on Monday; however, all weekend veterans will be admitted for free.  They can just show their military ID at the ticket windows to receive their free ticket and their family members will be admitted for half price.

Underground Atlanta will celebrate Memorial Day weekend with their “Blues in the Alley” event. Guest will be able to enjoy comfortable patio seating and food and beverages from restaurants in Kenny’s Alley while listening to cool jazz and blues music.  

Park Tavern will be hosting their 4th Annual Brews, Bands and BBQ Festival at Piedmont Park on Sunday. May 29. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief. The festival will begin at 2 p.m. and the first show will start at 3 p.m. The show’s lineup includes Slip Tripman, Sunset Strip, Behind the Sun and Generation NOW.
