'Lincoln & Obama' book launch at Decatur Book Festival August 31-September 2

DECATUR, Ga. -- Local author Dr. Gene Griessman, a seasoned Abraham Lincoln actor and keynote speaker, will launch his new book, “Lincoln and Obama” at the Decatur Book Festival, August 31-September 2 and also at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC, September 4-6.

“Lincoln and Obama” highlights the important parallels between the two presidents through the duration of their careers. As Dr. Griessman writes, “History repeats itself. Some of the repetition is random and coincidental, has no significance, no meaning. But some of history’s repetition is meaningful. We live in a cause-and-effect universe. The same cause produces the same effects over and over.” President Obama has always regarded Lincoln as one of his heroes and even gave an impersonator a shout-out during a recent speech in Cedar Rapids, IA, saying, “Abraham Lincoln in the house. My homeboy from Illinois and an outstanding Republican endorsee.” (Raynor, S. (2012, July 10). Marion Patch.)

These American stories about success and failure, politics and passion, are both surprising and predictable. The uncanny similarities may help to get a better look into the important future of our country and the 44th presidency. “Lincoln and Obama” is available online at www.LincolnandObama.com and is most recently available on Kindle and Amazon.
