ATLANTA – Dean James W. Curran, MD, MPH of Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health has been selected as the 2011 recipient of the Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award.  

The award, which was established in 2009 recognizes those who have contributed a significant amount to AIDS/STD prevention. The award was created by the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention (RCAP).

Curran will be honored during RCAP’s seventh national conference that’s being held at Indiana University Bloomington.

RCAP is a joint project of Indiana University, University of Colorado and the University of Kentucky with funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop received the honor in 2010.
